12 Steps to Preparing for your Wedding Day Hair & Makeup

  1. Start to work a a skin and hair regime 6 months out from the wedding. You may find the perfect look for you requires a change of hair colour, or a new skin care program. It's best to start early.
  2. Consider a trial run of your hair and makeup 3 months before the wedding. Trials normally take 2-3 hours and will give you an indication of what's possible.
  3. In the week leading up to the wedding you'll need a few days off to have a manicure, pedicure, waxing, haircut and colour, and tan.
  4. Don't forget to order your lip colour to touch-ups: 12 hours is a long time for your lips to stay perfect.
  5. Wash your hair twice on your special day, towel dry and condition the mid-lengths through to the ends.
  6. Rinse your hair thoroughly - it helps if you tip your head upside down.
  7. Blast dry your hair to ensure root lift.
  8. Don't give yourself a treatment or flat iron your hair 24 hours before your wedding day.
  9. Cleanse, scrub and lightly moisturise your skin 1 hour before my arrival using your regular products - not anything new!
  10. Now is the time to eat your breakfast and brush your teeth. Don't wait until your makeup is on.
  11. Wear a strapless top or dress during the prep' time (robes have big collars that mess up your beautiful hairstyle).
  12. Have fun on the day by preparing some of your favourite music or having a selection of kitsch wedding movies to watch. Great time to enjoy yourself with people you love.
